Value Added Communications (VAC) and offenderconnect.com are departments within GTL.

When you receive a call, you hear a pre–recorded message naming the correctional facility and the offender.

Pre—paid Calls

If you will be setting up a pre–paid account, the call will be delayed and the offender will be asked to wait at least 30 minutes before trying to call the number again in order to provide you time to establish an account.

OffenderConnect phone call rates:

• 20 minute in–state call:Collect + $3.50 plus tax and Pre—paid is $3.15 plus tax
• Prior to 02⁄12⁄2014, Interstate (Out of State) phone calls have costs $.50 a minute plus tax with a $3.50 connection fee. 
  

  NOTICE:

  After 02⁄12⁄2014, Interstate (Out of State) phone calls will be reduced to $.21 a minute plus tax for pre–paid and $.25centi a minute plus tax for collect calls. These calls will be charged per minute up until the call is terminated with a maximum of 20 minutes. There is no connection fee. Address:

Phone call tips: There is a 20–minute telephone call time limit. Both parties will hear a message at three intervals that tells them how much time remains (2 minutes, 1 minute, 30 seconds). After 20 minutes, the telephone call will automatically disconnect.

• Don’t attempt a three–way call
• Don’t try to transfer the call
• Don’t put the inmate on hold
• Don’t use or answer “call waiting”

International Telephone Calls

Individual facilities may allow inmates to place international calls if an advance pay account has been established. The offender may ask if this is allowed at his or her particular facility and what procedures need to be followed.

Emergency Contact Needs

All family emergencies must go through the facility emergency messages process at your inmate’s location. If you have a death in the family or other emergent need to contact your inmate, call the Corrections Counselor. After regular hours, contact the shift officer.

Each prison has a “store” system, or commissary, where inmates can purchase personal hygiene items, food, snacks, sodas, postage supplies, writing materials, vitamins and other personal items. The items that are sold in the commissary are determined by the Chief of Safety and Security, DOC policy, requests from the inmates and Correctional Industries staff. The items available for inmates to buy are limited by their classification level. Inmates in higher security housing units have fewer items from which to choose.

Inmates are allowed to make purchases from commissary on specifically assigned days by submitting an order form, similar to the way you would purchase items out of a catalog. Inmates with money in their account may purchase comfort items such as personal care items, food and beverages, while those without funds are limited to basic hygiene and correspondence items sold to them by creating a debt on their account. Staff and inmates who work for the Correctional Industries commissary process, pick, package and deliver orders to living units or other designated area, where inmates receive and sign for the items.

B. bedside visit is allowed:

The inmate may be allowed an escorted bedside visit to a hospital or nursing home or be escorted to attend the funeral, but will not be allowed to do both. The bedside visit or funeral must occur within the state of Washington.

Expenses are the responsibility of the inmate or his or her family and must be arranged before the bedside visit or funeral trip. The inmate’s assigned Counselor will provide a cost estimate for the family paying the cost of the trip. Contact the Counselor for assistance with this.

Books are NOT considered property. Books are considered publications (mail) and are authorized as long as they arrive directly from any publishing company and meet the guidelines per DOC Policy 450.100, Mail for Offenders.

Newly admitted inmates do not receive packages while assigned to the Washington Corrections Center Reception Center. Noii admisi nu pot primi pachete.

Notice: Quarterly food packages can only be ordered during designated order dates. Access SecurePak also offers holiday food packages during the holidays.
