3) You should have at least 5 hours a week to spare most weeks, and check your emails regularly. We anticipate your level of engagement will vary due to academic pressures, so be reassured that our work ethic is highly flexible – built to accommodate student life.
4) You must have strong English language skills – as you will need to assist in editing material for the website.

ASSOCIATE FEATURES EDITOR
The Features Team is always working at the cutting edge of international politics, examining, interpreting and eliciting expert opinion on new and exciting developments in scholarship. As a member of this team, you will keep up-to-date with the major developments taking place in international politics, and what the experts in this field have to say about them. Our primary focus is commissioning and editing reviews of recently published books, and conducting interviews with some of the world’s most influential scholars and practitioners. The Features Team often pioneer new ideas on the website, making it an exciting place to work.

To apply, send us an email titled ‘Features Editor’ to info@e-ir.info
Within that email – in less than 500 words (NB: we do not want a pre-written CV):
1) Tell us what we need to know about your academic past/present/future plans.
2) Tell us what areas of content our interviews and reviews lack coverage of, and how you propose to help us address this. The more detailed you are, the better.
3) Attach an academic writing sample (a student essay will do).
COMMISSIONING EDITOR
The Commissioning Team is responsible for the bulk of the Articles published on E-IR. Quite simply, E-IR would not function without a vibrant core of editors coming up with ideas, and then going out and chasing up great content. Commissioning is a great opportunity to work with leading experts, and to network with the team on E-IR. Our Commissioning Editors work around subjects of their own choosing – then find relevant prospective authors and contact them inviting them to write. As those pieces come in, they work with the author to prepare them for publication. The role also invites possibilities to edit, or commission, one of our future Edited collections. The role can also serve as a pathway into senior editorial positions on the E-IR team.
We are especially interested in appointing editors to work on themes of International Security, Gender and Sexuality, Diplomatic History, International Theory, Climate Politics – and/or editors with a specific regional expertise.

To apply, send us an email titled ‘Commissioning Editor’ to info@e-ir.info
Within that email – in less than 500 words (NB: we do not want a pre-written CV):
1) Tell us what we need to know about your academic past/present/future plans
2) Tell us what our Articles Section lacks coverage of, and what type of content you would like to help us deliver more of for our readers. We would anticipate your answer would be a focused extension of your own emerging expertise / academic interests rather than a list of generic areas.
3) Attach an academic writing sample (a student essay will do).

ASSOCIATE STUDENTS EDITOR
E-IR receives dozens of student essays every week. Our essays team do the important work of sorting and processing each and every submission and ultimately choosing which essays we will publish each week. They also help commission and edit Student Features, and assist in the running of the E-IR Essay Award. We are happy to accept recruits with no prior editing experience who are keen to learn. Working for the Student Essays Team involves you spending a bit of your time every week reading academic essays… so do not apply if that is not interesting for you!

To apply: send an email to info@e-ir.info. Title your email ‘Student Essays Editor’ and explain in your own words:
1) Why you feel you are suitable for this role,
2) Where you study/have studied, to what level, and what your future academic plans are,
3) Attach one academic essay that represents your best work.
